President Releases 2015 Budget Proposal

President Barack Obama yesterday released his FY 2015 budget projecting a deficit of 1.6 percent of the economy by 2024, down from 1.7 percent projected for 2023 in his last budget blueprint while the federal debt would rise to $25 trillion in 2024, up from $17.9 trillion in 2014.


House Over-Criminalization Task Force Starts Work

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Robert Goodlatte (R-Va.) has established an Over-Criminalization Task Force aimed at addressing the proliferation of new federal crimes and severe civil money penalties often for relatively minor violations of federal regulatory requirements.


U.S. Liability Costs Are Much Higher Than Competitors

The Institute for Legal Reform has released a study which shows that liability costs in the U.S. are dramatically higher than other developed countries: more than 2 ½ times higher than the European average and 40 percent higher than Canada.
