Biden Begins Filling Economic TeamDecember 2, 2020
On Monday, Nov. 30, President-elect Joe Biden announced several people who will serve on his economic team. Among the appointees is former Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen who, if confirmed, would be the first woman to serve as Secretary of the Treasury. There has not yet been any announcement on who will be named to head the U.S. Small Business Administration.
Yellen, the most high-profile individual named to the economic team thus far, would be joined at Treasury by Wally Adeyemo as Deputy Secretary. Neera Tanden has been nominated as the next Director of the Office of Management and Budget; Cecilia Rouse will serve as Chair of the Council of Economic Advisers along with incoming Council members Jared Bernstein and Heather Boushey
All nominees have experience either with past administrations or in Congress, and Biden is calling on Congress to hold hearings early in January prior to the inauguration.
