NSBA Leadership Meeting

June 16, 2022

Last week, NSBA held its first in-person Board of Trustees meeting since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Meeting in San Diego, California, the meeting was led by 2022 NSBA Chair Michael Stanek, co-owner and CFO of Hunt Imaging in Avon Lake, Ohio.

During the meeting, Trustees discussed key issues including the Senate-passed U.S. Innovation and Competition Act (USICA) and the House-passed America Creating Opportunities, Pre-Eminence in Technology, and Economic Strength Act (COMPETES Act), which includes language that would reauthorize the highly-successful Small Business Innovation and Research (SBIR) program. Reauthorizing the SBIR program is critically important and something the NSBA leadership strongly supports.

The Board also discussed workforce issues and immigration reform as well as the handful of vacancies of key staff at the U.S. Small Business Administration, including the Chief Counsel at the Office of Advocacy, SBA Deputy Administrator and SBA’s National Ombudsman.

“After two-and-a-half years of virtual meetings, it was wonderful to connect in person with the leadership at NSBA,” stated Stanek. “I’m exceptionally proud of this group for their commitment to our mission and dedication to serving America’s small businesses.”
