NSBA Mourns Passing of Heidi Jacobus

February 9, 2016

Heidi JacobusNSBA is sad to announce the passing of Heidi Jacobus, who served as Co-Chair of the Small Business Technology Council (SBTC)—the high-tech arm of NSBA—at the age of 63.

Jacobus served as Chairman and CEO of Cybernet Systems Corporation, a company she founded in 1989 which is a leader in research and development in the medical and defense fields and one of the country’s largest Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) contract winners.

Jacobus volunteered countless hours toward promoting and defending the interests of other SBIR companies.  As a board member and later Co-Chair of SBTC, she was well known for her passion and energy, and played a key role in many, if not most, of SBTC’s advocacy efforts. She consistently showed a willingness to lead on the issues that are so important to thousands of innovative high-tech small businesses, and was a mentor to many younger entrepreneurs and small businesses.

In-lieu of flowers, one of Heidi’s last wishes was to establish a middle school scholarship fund for the children of the Cosmos Club employees. If you would like to contribute to her last vision, please send a check to: Middle School Scholarships Fund, Care Of: Charles Jacobus, 432 Riverview Dr., Ann Arbor, MI 48104.

NSBA, SBTC and the SBIR community has lost a dear friend and mentor in Heidi Jacobus.
