NSBA State of the Union Podcast

February 5, 2014

pic-senate-floorLast week, NSBA held an Issue Briefing Teleconference the day immediately following President Barack Obama’s State of the Union Address which provided insider analysis on the address and outlined what’s likely for the coming months ahead.

The call featured Kent Hoover, the Washington Bureau Chief for American City Business Journals, who provided his take on the address. A veteran business reporter on Capitol Hill, Hoover’s years of experience provided attendees on the call with a unique perspective on the workings—or lack thereof—of Congress in recent years as well as what’s likely ahead. In responding to caller questions, Hoover stated that this is the most partisan he’s seen Congress in a very long time.

Joining Hoover was NSBA Chair Jeff Van Winkle who provided the official NSBA reaction to the address, specifically focusing on the President’s calls for a minimum wage increase and the overall lack of small-business emphasis.
