NSBA Talks Small Business, COVID-19 with Speaker PelosiMay 5, 2020
Today, the National Small Business Association (NSBA) joined with the Small Business Roundtable and other small-business groups to talk with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) about the COVID-19 crisis and how small businesses are faring. Below is a statement from NSBA President Todd McCracken.
“Today, nearly half of small businesses are not confident in the future of their own business, an incredibly troubling statistic, and the highest this indicator has been since the height of the Great Recession. Too often, small business is relegated to stump speeches and afterthoughts in our political landscape, but our struggles today are real and having our voice heard is critical. I’d like to thank Speaker Pelosi for her time today listening to America’s small businesses.
“NSBA is hearing from our members every day about the challenges they face, top among those is how to ensure their employees and the families that rely on them can still put food on the table. Small businesses know that health and safety are critically important and confidence in the economy hinges upon both. We also know that getting the economy back on track will require nimbleness, flexibility and will not be solved by a one-size-fits-all solution.
“Lawmakers have proven the ability to work together through a series of major pieces of funding directed toward America’s small businesses. We hope they continue to work together to pursue every avenue possible to ensure a vibrant small-business community comes out on the other side of this pandemic.”
