NSBA Urges Pro-Small-Business Policies

January 17, 2019

This week, NSBA President Todd McCracken reached out to all Members of Congress, new and returning, urging them to support policies that foster small-business growth. In his letter, he underscored the importance of small business to the U.S. and our economy, as well as the impact of small-business prosperity in neighborhoods and communities.

McCracken underscored part of what makes NSBA so unique: “In our more than 80 years in operation we have always been staunchly nonpartisan which has positioned us uniquely to work with Republicans and Democrats alike with one goal: to help small businesses start, run and grow.”

The letter also highlighted the importance of small business:

  • There are more than 70 million people in the U.S. that work for, or run a small business – one in four of the total U.S. population;
  • Small business represents 99.7 percent of all employer firms; and
  • Small firms employ half of the country’s private sector workforce.

McCracken outlined NSBA’s member-voted Top Ten Priority Issues for the coming two years, and encouraged Members of Congress to utilize NSBA’s wealth of policy backgrounders and white papers, as well as our vast small-business data.

NSBA is urging all members to reach out to their Members of Congress via NSBA’s Action Center where we have a pre-drafted letter you can personalize and send along to your elected officials. Hearing from constituents is a very impactful way for our shared pro-small-business message to get in front of the policy decision-makers on Capitol Hill.
