Policy Briefing on Small Business Access to CapitalSeptember 11, 2012
On Wednesday of this week, representatives from the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) and the small-business community will meet to discuss access to capital issues and expanding credit union lending authority. The forum-style policy briefing will be moderated by a representative from The Hill and feature remarks from Senator Mark Udall (D-Colo.) and Congressman Ed Royce (R-Calif.), both of whom introduced the NSBA-supported Small Business Lending Enhancement Act (S. 2231; H.R. 1418). If enacted, the Small Business Lending Enhancement Act would increase the arbitrary cap for credit union member business lending from the current 12.25 percent to 27.5 percent of the total assets of the credit union, making it easier for entrepreneurs and small businesses to obtain the financing they need to expand their businesses, hire new employees, and maintain sustainable economic growth.
