Senate Approves Nomination for SBA Deputy

On Wednesday, June 16, the Senate Small Business Committee approved the nomination of Dilawar Syed to serve as the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) deputy administrator. The role of the No. 2 official of the SBA is to oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization. Syed’s nomination was cleared in a voice vote. It was not made clear when the full Senate will be considering his confirmation.  

Syed is the CEO of Luminata, an artificial intelligence healthcare company. He has also served as the chair of California’s entrepreneurship task force and was a part of former President Barack Obama’s White House Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.
