A bipartisan group of senators –– the so-called gang of eight –– is expected to release a broad immigration reform proposal later this week which is said to address issues such as highly-skilled worker visas, temporary worker programs and mandatory E-Verify.

Negotiations continue on the immigration front with the bipartisan Gang of Eight in the Senate continuing to work toward, and possibly nearing an agreement, while similar discussions are occurring in the House.

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services recently provided additional details to the administration's new imigration policy, “deferred action,” wherein they likely will not pursue deportation for certain illegal immigrants who have lived in the U.S. for at least five years, are under 30 years old and free of any major criminal convictions, among other criteria.
