Last Wednesday, the SEC issued their long-awaited proposed rules on crowdfunding, pursuant to the JOBS Act which should make it much easier for small business to raise capital and get new ideas off the ground. Additionally, the JOBS Act was the subject of a Senate hearing today.

Earlier this week, NSBA filed comments with the SEC critical of a new proposal regarding proposed amendments to Regulation D, Form D and Rule 156 which would impose high compliance costs small businesses trying to raise capital.
Last week, the SEC adopted two final rules and one proposed rule to implement the NSBA-supported JOBS Act dealing with how small businesses can seek investors, details have finally been made available on those rules.
Tomorrow, NSBA Treasurer Jeff Van Winkle of Clark Hill, PLC in Grand Rapids, Michigan will testify before Congress on the importance of easing access to capital for small business as the Securities and Exchange Commission works to implement the NSBA-supported JOBS Act.
