Yesterday, the House passed a stopgap spending bill that keeps the government funded through March 23, the bill now moves to the Senate where lawmakers have until Feb. 8 to avoid a government shutdown.
The government shutdown ended Monday night, yet lawmakers have just three weeks to the next spending bill deadline.
On Dec. 9, the federal government narrowly avoided a shut-down thanks to a last-minute Senate vote in favor of a continuing resolution (CR) to further fund federal operations until April 28, 2017.
As Congress eyes the end of this week to close the 114th sessions, lawmakers must pass a stopgap spending measure, and are aiming to pass a continuing resolution (CR) spending bill good through April of 2017.
