Thank you for registering for the National Small Business Association’s 2019 Washington Presentation. We have a great deal of information for you in this e-mail, so please print this message and keep a copy of it in your files.
The Washington Presentation will be held at the Wink Hotel, Washington, D.C. If requested, NSBA will include your overnight accommodations request to the Wink via a rooming list for the group. The Wink will confirm your room request after receiving the rooming list from NSBA, and will send you a confirmation then—likely the last week in May. If you have any questions regarding your registration or hotel reservation, please contact Rosa Wright at 202-552-2907.
What to Expect
This annual event is designed to bring our members to Washington, D.C. to lobby on behalf of NSBA on important issues for small businesses. If you have not attended the Washington Presentation before, here’s what you can expect:
Monday, June 10
Registration will begin at the Wink at 9:00 a.m. When you pick up your registration packet, you will receive a complete schedule and other materials.
The first official event of the Washington Presentation will be the Procurement Roundtable which is an optional event focused on federal contracting. Next, we will have the Lew Shattuck Small Business Advocate of the Year Award luncheon. That afternoon, the NSBA delegation will talk policy in a briefing on our 2018 priority issues and hear from lobbying experts and NSBA leadership on how to lobby your Members of Congress. We also expect to hear from Administration Officials as part of our White House Briefing.
Following the briefings, the NSBA delegation will take part in a relaxed reception to close out the day.
If you registered for the optional Leadership Dinner, you will then walk just a few blocks to the Darlington House for a dinner where you can get to know your fellow NSBA leaders better while discussing big-picture solutions for the major issues facing our country. This dinner is an exclusive event for the NSBA Board of Trustees and Leadership Council.
Tuesday, June 11
The activities on Tuesday will start EARLY with the NSBA delegation heading to Capitol Hill for the Congressional Breakfast, where we will hear from various Members of Congress, which is the final group event of the Washington Presentation.
Following the breakfast, you will set about Capitol Hill to meet with and lobby your Members of Congress. If you requested NSBA staff schedule meetings for you, we will provide you with a schedule at registration. Please be patient – oftentimes, offices will not confirm meetings until just a few days out, but every effort will be made to secure meetings for you. If you did NOT request these meetings, you will be on your own in terms of setting up meetings with the government officials you wish to meet with.
The attire for the two-day meeting is business dress. The temperature in Washington during this time usually ranges from the mid 80s, to the mid 90s. Afternoon rain showers are a frequent occurrence. You will be walking quite a bit between your hill visits, so we encourage you to pack comfortable walking shoes.
Thank you again for registering for the NSBA Washington Presentation! We are looking forward to a very productive and exciting event.
